[OUTDATED] Fortessa Dungeon - Survival Guide

Recommended Posts

NOTE: This guide is now outdated since Fortessa Dungeons have been reworked.

Hi, welcome

I'm making this pseudo-guide with a list of tips i find useful for farming in Fortessa Dungeons (mostly solo) and not die in the process, or at least not that quickly.

General Informations / Tips

- Always, ALWAYS, bring Butterfly Wings (specially in Niflheim), or have some in your storage (if you have @storage command) since @commands are disabled, and it's faster than relogging (thanks Digi).

- You can use Call Storage skill (in Etc.) if you have enabled the @storage command.  @storage is now enabled so forget about this

- Remember ANY damage done inside the dungeons is halved (65% actually now), both the damage you receive and the damage you make. Don't get scared if you see less damage.

- LOOT all the Vicious Fortessa Emblems as you can now use them to trade for Fortessa Box 1 or 2 (usually you'll pick the 2)

-

First of all, KNOW YOUR ENEMY:

- All monsters in Fortessa Dungeon are BOSS-type, like in Nightmare Biolabs / Fortessa Pit

  • BOSS DEF/MDEF penetration will be useful then, so get your Purified Knight Shield with that enchant, or the MVP card variants if you can (Vesper for magic, Ancient Tao Gunka which is
  • Alice card will protect you against ALL of the monsters for 40% of their damage

- Keep in mind at least the general races of each floor to know what cards/gear will help you. If you want to use Penetration / Tempest sets, the most predominant races (i think) in each level are:

  1. Floor 1: Demon (the Ninjas, and the Taekwon)
  2. Floor 2: They're all different races, so just wear anything else that's more useful and get some general penetration (skill shadow set, class shadow set, purified pen, boss pen) or just pen to focus your nightmare
  3. Floor 3: Angel (the Rune Knight and the Arch Bishop)

Floor 1 - This floor is the easiest of the 3 floors, in terms of their HP. Some classes can oneshot easily the monsters inside, mostly magic ones.screenNiflheim071.thumb.jpg.a53f04b0a8e6b5cfaa92550a25c21ef1.jpg

  • Male Gunslinger (Eckart Appleton) and Male Ninja (Saikaku Yamane) both use Stone Skin, so be prepared to deal less damage if you're using physical class. The Gunslinger will still receive more damage from
  • Both ninjas are a pain:
  1.  Male Ninja will use Throw Huuma from far distance which will hurt a lot, and NEVER let it get close to you. If its close to you, it'll use Final Strike, which will deal MELEE (safety wall!!!!) damage according to the current HP it has and will usually oneshot you. Deviling is useful to tank this skill, and of course Safety Wall will protect you against this. If you can lower his HP fast enough for the skill to not deal much damage, its better, but if you can kill it before it does, much better indeed.
  2. Female Ninja (Taki Matsushita) will use all her magic spells which also hurt a lot, but if you're using Shining Defense Scroll and/or Angeling card/Holy Armor you won't have a bad time. Land Protector usually helps against the Blaze Shield, which is mostly annoying rather than hurting.

Both Ninjas are Neutral Element, so you can use Jitterbug combo, both for defense or damage

  • Gunslingers will snipe you from afar, not letting you cast (in case you still have cast time) or move. Try to kill the Female (Justice Felsing) one first since it will Divest your weapons for a long time.
  • You can use Fly Wing in Niflheim's Fortessa Dungeon F1, so take it on your advantage. You can fly wing in both Helheim and Niflheim now so
  • The Taekwon (Mun Young) isn't really a threat, except when soloing since Earthquake, but mostly you won't mind it

In order of priority, try to focus the monsters in this order in case of mobbing:

  1. Male Ninja, AS FAST AS YOU CAN
  2. Female Ninja
  3. Female Gunslinger
  4. Taekwon
  5. Male Gunslinger

Floor 2 - The painful level. There's no way to basically not suffer in this place.screenNiflheim070.thumb.jpg.fb5c804e5b4bae4137b70a475df672ab.jpg

  • There are a lot of Safety Walls left by the Sura (Chen Hua) which will protect you from almost everything inside (except the Warlock), use them on your advantage since almost all skills are Melee damage here.
  • The Sura will almost always use Gate of Hell (with Melee Damage) as soon as its close to you, which will deal more damage the less HP it has. Wait until it casts it to avoid getting oneshotted. If you're sure you can oneshot it, of course there's no problem then. If you're in party, try to not facetank since people will usually hit it as soon as they see the Sura, and if they don't kill it, it will kill you instead. It uses Snap.
  • All the damage done by the Ranger (Fletcher Eigsti) is considered as MELEE here, Arrow Storm, Sharp Shooting, everything. Abuse the safety walls in the map.
  • You can force the Warlock (Zuhair Emre) to use White Imprison on you, which is useful in case of getting overrided by mobs which usually cast their strongest skill first here.
  • The Warlock uses mostly Ghost magic, so DON'T WEAR GHOST ARMOR
  • Almost anything AGI UP here, so if you can lower their FLEE (Infrared Scan from Mech, Dispell/Clearance) somehow or get enough HIT, it'll make your life easier. Or just use skills that ignore flee
  • There's no safe element to play here. Holy/Ghost will make you useless against the Sura, Neutral won't work against the Warlock, Dark will make you hit less against the GX and any other element will hit less on the Sura too. Swap your stuff
  • The map layout is the same as the Cursed Baphomet instance, in case you already know it.
  • Since the monsters are really far from each other, it's the slowest floor to farm (though in Niflheim is the one with the best loot mostly).
  • Maya Purple will be your best friend to avoid getting ganked by some random Guillotine Cross (Kavac Hilmiya). They also can now teleport next to you thanks to Cross Impact update!! Thanks Gravity!!!!!

The kill priority is kinda dependant on your party here, since the threat of each monster varies a LOT by the class which you're playing

In parties usually:

  1. Oneshot the sura, if not, focus the Ranger.
  2. If you couldn't oneshot the sura, ignore it in case of lots of mobs. Focus the Guillotine
  3. Sura
  4. Warlock

If soloing with Melee, you'll usually be tanky, so you wont really have trouble with most mobs, but consider the tips above.

If soloing with Ranged, almost anything will oneshot you :^). Keep in mind almost everything dashes or forces you to gap close. Try to stay as far as possible.

  1. Try to kill the warlock first so it doesn't force you to get mobbed
  2. Kill the Sura because it'll make your life really hard with almost everything
  3. Go for the Ranger before (in case it didn't already) it AGI UP unless you have any skill that ignores FLEE to kill it
  4. The Guillotine Cross will kind of bully you most of the time so dont mind it

Magic is, as usual, the safest choice. Anything that has evasion (Kaupe / Cicada Skin Shed) or can use Safety Wall is safe. BUT!

  • If you're Reaper, not much problem since you can swap element, except Kaupe doesn't last many attacks and White Imprison will leave you in bad situations.
  • As Arch Bishop, you can use Safety Wall to defend yourself, and hit everything except the Sura with your Holy magics
  • Warlock has a nice time, since you can just try and Hell Inferno the Sura and hit the rest with anything really. Also has Safety
  • Sorcerer, I don't know honestly. Safety and Dispell are good. Varetyr won't hit the Ranger and the other skills are kind of Meh
  • Ninjas can use Cicada for protection, but won't be able to deal with the Sura.

Floor 3 - The hallway, this one isn't really hard but without preparation it will be quite annoying. Be aware of MVP tooscreenNiflheim073.thumb.jpg.15b92fad39ddea628c386476844ef970.jpg

  • Bring Angeling or Holy Armor. This is almost a MUST. Or get oneshotted by the Arch Bishop (Harald Heiligsturm)
  • Adoramus will be focused like 70% of the times to the backline, so everyone who doesnt have angeling should stay aware of either, not staying behind the tank, or be the tank in case of many people.
  • There will be plenty of Pneumas in the map, which will make your ranged damage almost useless unless you either oneshot / bring Land Protector (back to Helheim first weeks heh)
  • The Mechanic (Matilde Goldhammer) will Full Strip you, break your equip, and annoy you as much as it can if you get at Melee Range, so try to avoid that.
  • Almost all the damage from the Rune Knight (Asta Fafner) (i think is Spear Boomerang or something, and the Dragon Breaths) is ranged, so you can use the Pneuma or Neutral Barrier to neglect most of its damage.
  • In addition to the last two points: Full Chemical Protection will be your best friend in this floor.
  • Try to not MAGIC focus the MvP (Sung Jiyeon) while its on Kaite (you'll see a small repeating aura) since it'll reflect up to 3 magic attacks, BUT it will receive around 3x-4x more physical damage while on that state. Also it uses Kaupe which will evade any attack too while its active, so just spam until it wears off
  • You can play safe Shadow element against all of them (except the MVP which is shadow, but it'll be probably dead by someone else usually). They're also 2 Angel monsters if you want to wear Angel penetration set. Don't mind the Fish race Mechanic though
  • You can remove the full strip with Soul Escape (Niflheim Only) / Class Change. The first one will have a long cooldown though, and the second requires you having another class on the character.

In order of monster focus, I'd suggest:

  1. Mechanic, it'll annoy you A LOT with the divests / equip break (or Arch Bishop if you don't have Angeling)
  2. Rune Knight, it doesn't really do much. Though it hits kinda hard and breaks your equip. Also debuffs a lot.
  3. Arch Bishop. It'll pneuma your everything if you're ranged, but if not, then its pretty much just standing there dealing basic attacks

Ok as usual, if you have any feedback, it'll be appreciated. Thanks for reading I hope it's useful for someone
