Robino981 28 Posted May 26, 2020 (edited) Welcome to my 2nd Guide: "Magic Oboro" This is something that exists because I heard that some players are running in Pit with Oboro. When 17.2 released i thought: „Let's give it a shot!“. Now I’m stuck with a class that’s very funny to play, and not bad at all. To give a simple feeling on how good it is, I haven’t finished gearing the class and im already at 7m DPS on Dummy’s. Positives: Spoiler High Survivalbility - Oboro has 3 skills that make you dodge attacks or make your enemies attack something different. 2 of those are buffs, while one is active. When all buffs are fresh, you're able to dodge 8 times. Fast Clear Speed - You might think, why you should play this, when other magic classes just nuke everything into oblivion with one spell. Well, you're right with that, but can those classes do that the whole time? Oboro can kill single mobs so fast, that they can kill up to 7 Monsters in one second. Cheap Recovery - Oboro and Kagerou both can heal themselfes up to 100% HP in 10 seconds, and even recover 50% of their SP at the same time. If you manage your playstyle well, you never have to use and potions at all. No need for PKS - Oboro is the only Magic class that doesn't need a PKS to be good. They dual wield daggers instead. Who needs ACD - Oboro, like Soul Reaper, doesn't need ACD for DPS, along with no need for Fixed Cast Reduction, this opens up a huge damage spectrum. Negatives: Spoiler Element Locked - Oboro has the same problem as nearly every Magic Class but worse. They only have 3 Elements to choose, which are fire, water and wind. Out of these, water is the best choice, then fire and then wind. Dual Wield is hard - Like I stated above, Oboro doesn't need a PKS but rather dual wields. This also means, that they will have a bad time reaching 193 ASPD. And they need to get 2 Weapons up to +14. They also don't have the defensive options shields normally have (I miss Alice Card). Magic, your friend and worst Nightmare - Oboro uses Magic and Dodges attacks. This sounds insanely strong which it is. Until you go up against other Magic. Oboro only has one skill, that works a bit against magic, and that only splits the damage you take. Don't die - When you die, your DPS drops insanely. When you die, you lose 16th Night, which reduces 100% of your Fixed cast time, and it has a Cooldown. Breaking Fingers - This Class feels like playing Knuckle Arrow Sura, which i personally love, but I guess using a skill 7 times per second isn't something everyone loves. Ping - your Ping to the server heavily makes your DPS. For comparison, I'm playing with a Ping of 90, and can't hit max DPS all the time. Important to know: Spoiler Ammunition Style Combat - Oboro uses specific items for some skills. They don't burn very fast through items and the items aren't expensive, but this needs to be known. Things you will need in this order: 100% VCT - Yes, Oboros rely on VCT, which isnt so hard to reach tho. 193 ASPD - This could be harder to reach, but not impossible. 100% Boss MDef Pierce - not Important, but also not bad UPDATE Race MDef Pierce Stacks Additively to Boss MDef Pierce and Normal MDef Pierce, so take 60% from Shadow Combo into Account StatsnSkills: Spoiler Stats Spoiler Str - Weight Capacity Agi - Your best friend, go for 193 ASPD Vit - To take some Punches Int - At least 120 for Temporal Int Boots Dex - Bad Agi, again for 193 ASPD Luk - A bit extra damage Supportive Skills Spoiler Ninja Aura - Gives 5 Str and 5 Int and 1 ASPD if you're using Ninja Shadow Gear, which you should. Cicada Skin Shed - 3 Dodges with a jump back. Can get you out of sticky situations. Can get you into stickier situations. Mirror Image - Uses a Shadow Orb and ends Ninja Aura, 5 100% dodges on the spot. 16th Night - 100% Fixed Cast Reduction and some Matk Distorted Crescent - Only use this, when you're having even SP, if you use it with even SP, you get an Matk boost, with uneven SP, you get a Matk debuff. Pure Soul - Recover 100% HP and 50% SP over 10 Seconds, cancels when you get hit. Illusion - Shadow - Jump back for some distance and leave a Shinobi where you were, enemies will attack the Shinobi Moonlight Fantasy - Splits Magic Damage you take evenly up onto you and all targets close around you. Fire Skills (Less Damage than Ice, better AoE) Spoiler Fire Charm - Uses Fire Charms, stacks up to 10 times, each stack increases fire magic damage dealt. Flaming Petals - Main fire DPS skill, single target. Blaze Shield - Uses Flame Stones, makes a 5x5 fire field around you, works like Fire Wall from Magician Exploding Dragon - Uses Flame Stones, 5x5 AoE with target selection. No DPS option. Water Skills (Highest Damage - Single Target) Spoiler Ice Charm - Uses Water Charms, stacks up to 10 times, each stack increases water magic damage dealt. Freezing Spear - Main water DPS skill, single target. Watery Evasion - Uses Ice Stones, makes a water field, in this field, you deal more damage with freezing spear, enemies inside will move slower. (This Skill is kinda bugged in SMRO, normally enemies inside the water field should take more damage, not while you are standing inside.) Snow Flake Draft - Uses Ice Stones, 7x7 AoE around you, 60% chance to freeze enemies. Wind Skills (Less Damage than Fire and Ice, Best AoE (Still bad AoE damage)) Spoiler Wind Charm - Uses Wind Charms, stacks up to 10 times, each stack increases wind magic damage dealt. Wind Blade - Main wind DPS skill, single target. Lightning Jolt - Uses Wind Stones, Good AoE when Targetless, low Damage First Wind - Uses Wind Stones, Best AoE Skill from Oboro Equipment Spoiler Gear: Spoiler Helm (Upper) Spoiler +12 Celine's Ribbon [1] - This is best in slot. You need Spell 4-6 or ASPD on this. +12 Zaha Doll Hat [1] - If you don't have a Celine Ribbon, go with this. It gets to Celine damage with the transformation. Helm (Middle) Spoiler Victorious Wing Ear [1]: With 10 Matk & 3% Matk enchant. Poring Sunglasses [1]: If you want to farm some Stuff, it's not bad to have some extra dropchance. Helm (Bottom) Spoiler CD in Mouth: 5% increased Dmg by all elements Delicious Lollipop: +1 ASPD Happy Balloon: Dropchance increase Armor Spoiler +12 Automatic Armor B [1]: Probably best in slot, I don't have one tho (me poor). Enchants would be: 2x Shadow Spell and 1x Magic Power. +12 Int Soutane [1]: with Int Blessing. This is better than Illusion Armor. +12 Illusion Armor B [1]: with 2x Magic enchant. Use this if you don't have anything else. Weapon Spoiler +14 Wrath Rack [2]: The Weapon that made me play Oboro. You need 2 of these. Enchants should aim to get as close to 100% Boss MDef Pierce as possible (max is 15% per weapon). (Shield) Spoiler +12 Purified Knight Shield [1]: Even if I said dual dagger is better, it's no shame to use this, I even use it in Fortessa Ruins to survive Comets. Garment Spoiler +12 Temporal Int Manteau [1]: with 6% Matk enchant, no questions asked. Shoes Spoiler +12 Temporal Int Boots [1]: Runaway Magic and Spell/ASPD, not questions asked. Accessorys Spoiler Celine's Brooch [1]: This is a must-have. (Except you're playing with Zaha Doll Hat). King Schmidt's Divine Power Insignia [1]: With Divine Power enchant and Spell 4-5. Grace Magic Ring [1]: Use this if you're not using one of the options above. Cards Spoiler Helm (Upper) Spoiler Fire - Lichtern Red Water - Lichtern Blue Wind - Tikbalang Helm (Middle) Spoiler Either Vesper or one of the element options above. Helm (Bottom) Spoiler Imagine you could put Cards in here Armor Spoiler Damage Options: Greater Red Pepper (MVP), Nightmare Amon Ra (MVP), Professor Celia (MVP), Realized Amdarais (MVP), Red Pepper (MVP), for Water: Awakened Ktullanux (MVP) Defensive: Element Armor Cards, Frus Weapon Spoiler 1x E-EA1L (Single Target Skills only) All Elements: Mutated White Knight (Not for Pit and Ruins) Fire: 3x Red Pitaya (4 if using AoE Skill) Water 3x Blue Pitaya (4 if using AoE Skill) Wind 3x Arch Plasma (4 if using AoE Skill) If you got Timeholder card(s) replace the elemental cards with it Shield Spoiler If you're using PKS, use Alice Garment Spoiler Deviling to survive Comet in Ruins Element Cards work best here: Fire: Nightmare Ancient Mummy, Deep Sea Witch (MVP) Water: Faceworm Larva, Corrupted Spider Queen (MVP) Wind: Deep Sea Phen, Gioia (MVP) If you're not having any of these above: Marsh Arclouse Shoes Spoiler Dried Rafflesia (Single Target Skills only) Accessorys Spoiler 1x Elite Bellare (Single Target Skills only) Fire: Mavka Water: Headless Mule Wind: Elvira Shadow Gear Spoiler Helm (Upper) Spoiler Ninja Costume Stone Helm (Middle) Spoiler Ninja Costume Stone Helm (Bottom) Spoiler Ninja Costume Stone Armor Spoiler +10 Oboro Shadow Armor, either Boss MDef Pierce or ASPD enchant Weapon Spoiler +9 Ninja Shadow Weapon, either Boss MDef Pierce or ASPD enchant Shield Spoiler +10 Ninja Shadow Shield, either Boss MDef Pierce or ASPD enchant Garment Spoiler Oboro Costume Stone Shoes Spoiler +7 - +10 Oboro Shadow Shoes, either Boss MDef Pierce APSD enchant Accessory R Spoiler +9/10 Wind Spear Petal Shadow Earring, ASPD enchant Accessory L Spoiler +10 Almighty Shadow Pendant, ASPD enchant Endnote Spoiler You probably read this guide and now you're thinking: "Which Element should I use?" The best element as I stated above is water. The reason for this is that Dried Rafflesia card only boosts Freezing Spear and Watery Evasion boosts Freezing Spear even more. Second best is Fire, because Wrath Rack boosts both Flaming Petals and Freezing Spear. Wind is kind of a letdown, I don't know why, but the wind charms boost the Wind Blade damage only by half the amount of what Freezing Spear and Flaming Petals get. I still use wind more often than fire, mainly to clear water type enemies. If you have any more questions or notes to add, comment this / talk to Arun on Discord / pm Arun/Radian ingame. I don't recommend doing that class 1x on magic, rather play swirling petal for that, but I don't know the gear for that build.
