A Scrap Guide to Biolo

Due to a disturbing amount of players wanting to play Biolo but no veteran wants to write a guide about it, I decided to take the matter into my own hand
However due to the lack of actual knowledge about how this class works beside my own experience, until somebody competent enough to make an actual guide you gonna have to settle with this ultra lite proto guide

WELCOME TO A SCRAP GUIDE TO BIOLO
- Yes I rip-off from Jocat's crap guide series
- No it won't be funny as his: he's a bard I'm a cardinal

1. About

If you picking this class thinking "This is a good class to make money", stop reading and go read Noir's Nightwatch guide or Iridium’s First Character Guide. This class is very expensive to gear for late-game money-making methods and yet not the best farmer in the game. So only play if you are passionate about geneticist and want to find out how its advanced class is about, or if you have money to throw away, or just a plain masochist.
PROS:
- Cart Boost: Still the fastest speed boost (does not mean fast traveling method)
- Homuncus and summon trivialize a lot of content
- Discount, Overcharge and Cart for maximizing zenny scam from NPC
- ...
- er...
- You can craft stuff?

CONS:
- Either a build that consumes a lot of material over time and low gears investment
- Or a build that cost upfront tons of money for gears but does not use any material. Pick your poison.

2. Stats

- STR: 120 or max. Just because you are doing long-ranged damage does not mean this is a dump stat because status atk is based on the type of weapon you using
- AGI: Enough for 193 aspd. So you can spam 7 skills per sec for maximum DEEPS and no, flee is stupid: ping and mob number will nullify whatever you think flee worth
- VIT: As much as you can. Even with your Homun tanking you still need to be beefy to stay alive with all the AOE the mvp will spam.
- INT: 120 or min. During the geneticist phase you need INT to increase Cart Cannon damage. Afterward you will switch to better skills so reset and get a low amount to reduce some cast time.
- DEX: 100-120. Cast time and hit
- LUK: 125 or min. One of you skill can crit now, and it's the prefered skill over the shitty cart cannon (yes it is shitty stop thinking about it once you are Biolo)

Priority:
- Geneticist: INT = DEX > STR > VIT = AGI > LUK
- Biolo: STR > LUK > VIT > DEX > INT > AGI

3. Leveling

If you are doing booster, please refer to Meissner's Booster Guide for Biolo. The following method is for x100 characters only
 

Spoiler

- After being warped to Office, talk to Job changer and choose Mage (This is not a typo or wrong copypaste)
- Use @warp prt_fild08 punch a mob until you have Fireball
- @warp anthell01 and fireball the ant egg until you are job 50
- @go office and change to wizard
- @go eden, walk to counter and talk to Lime, choose to join Eden. Afterward walk to top right to a big gate and enter the portal, walk down the hallway and enter next portal on the right into room with 4 NPC, buy basic magic paradise gears and paradise wizard weapon that increase Storm Gust and Lord of Vermillion
- @warp orcsdun01 and fireball mobs until you have SG and LoV maxed
- @warp mag_dun02 and grind there with SG and LoV until you can rebirth
- Go back to office, rebirth, go back to prt_fild08, get 10 job level and change to High Merchant, go back to anthell01, use Cart Revolution to get 50 job
- Back to office, change to Creator and then, do the Cautious Village quest from step 2 (Skip talking to Rodel the Guard) and you should be 99/70
If you not, get physical gear for Creator and punch 9 mob in mag_dun02.
- @warp moc_prydn1, talk to suspicious cat and choose to eliminate 20 verits. Finish the quest and you should have enough skill point for cart cannon
- @warp ba_bath, use lightning cannonball and farm until you're 130, go back to eden and to the board on the right of the big gate, accept board quest 130-190, then go back to ba_bath and finish quest for this map
- 150 - 170: sp_rudus3 or Kennel Lost Valley quest ( ba_lost)
- 170 - 180: prt_mz03_i or mag_dun03 (lv.175)
- 180 - 190: ba_pw03, odin_past (lv.185), ein_dun03
- 190 - 200: abyss04 or turn in one of previous map quest if you do not feel strong enough
- 200 - 240: nif_dun01 (there's no other way
)
- 240 - 250: clock_01

4. Gears
Oh boy.
Anyway, the reason I put leveling before gears is so I can skip the entire pre-genetic gearing: Paradise set is BiS (best in slots) for that period so do not try to seek some relics of the past that you used to equip. And because Gravity sucks at designing gears (new gears powercreep old gears into oblivion thus it is a waste of money and material to try and get them), RO does not have a "gear progression", so you will see a lot of big jump from mediocre gear straight to end-game gears

Stripe Hat [1] 130 The easiest long-ranged hat you can get with instance coin. Some argue getting Fancy Feather Hat, but I disagree due MVP drops required to make it.
Thanos Shooter Helm [1] 190 Great general purpose helm for long-ranged damage, which you can upgrade later if you choose Acidified build.
Refine the helm to +12 before changing to LT version. This is because LT version is armor level 2 and refine +12 for them is very expensive.
Obtain from Ghost Palace at high difficulty
Thanos Shooter Helm-LT [1] 190 Very cheap for the bonus it gives. Great general purpose helm you can share with other LR damage characters.
Enchant with Enchant Ticket at Enchant UI in @go 47. Which first enchantment depends on the type of character you want to share, but Ambition is great for most cases; Archline is not favorable due to Nebula armor giving a lot of them; Acute is best if you want to share helm with crit abusing job.
Make from Thanos Shooter Helm with Thanos Helm Reform Cube (best from vend, or drop from Tomb of Remorse at high difficulty, which is a difficult instance)
Crown of Good and Evil (Biolo) [1] 215 High cost
Helm for Mayhemic Thorn build. Hard to get: a low chance for an Otherworldly Thanatos Fragment, exchange it with some other low drop fragments for the box that randomly gives out a crown, or get 10 of Thanatos frag for the guaranteed crown; enchanting cost Powerful Dimension Essence which is a very precious material. In return you get a very useful build.
Get Evil Spell to combo with Blood Rapier
Kathryne Keyon Card   If you lack variable cast time reduction (vct)
Purple Ferus Card   Damage Card

Middle

Battle Processor 1 Low priority. Middle helm does not give a big boost to help you early on so do not pay too much attention to it
Battle Processor [1] 1 Low priority. Aim for 9%-10% long-ranged enchant on it

Lower

Feather in Mouth 1 Low priority. Just like middle headgear, lower headgear does not boost you by much. This is the cheapest long-ranged you can get
Young Leaf of World Tree 100 Enchant with Enchant Ticket. Aim for P.Atk/Atk if you build Acidified and C.rate/Atk if you choose Mayhemic.
Do not keep trait stat enchant (Pow) since they translate to very little damage boost.

Armor

Illusion Armor A-type [1] 130 Easiest armor to get and offer the least bonus. But it works. Get 2 Modification Module (Power) on it. Shooters offer much lower damage output so ignore them. Last enchant should be Modification Module (Delay After Skill)
Automatic Armor A-type [1] 160 A much better version of Illusion Armor. However it is very expensive to get for the little purpose it serves: due to x100 rate the time period you use Cart Cannon is very short so the cost does not justify getting one. All the Varmeal Tickets you spend on getting one of these can be used on the Varmundt Rune equipment instead.
If you somehow have one, get 2 Automatic Module (Cannon Tornado) and Automatic Module (Delay after skill)
Strength Soutane [1] 170 Not hard to get but to get the right enchant, Str Blessing, is very very difficult. But you can share it with other Str jobs, and it serves in every build.
Nebula Suit of Agility [1] or
Nebula Armor of Power [1]
240 Very high priority. Nebula armors are the best armors in the game even in kro, which is 2 years ahead of us and they offer a huge power spike so you cannot go wrong with them, the question is which one.
Well you want the Star Cluster of Concentration lv.3 and due to the enchanting mechanic of Nebula armor, Nebula Suit of Agility (Neb con) has a higher chance of getting it, thus is easier to get/cheaper to buy, while also offering a lot of aspd for spamming skills; Nebula Armor of Power (Neb pow) instead offer a lot more raw power, but much harder to get means much more expensive. If you are new, you cannot go wrong with Neb con.
Just do not pay much attention to getting a good 2nd enchant.
Dame of Sentinel   Combo with Happiness Giver Card for a lot of long-ranged damage

Weapon

Patent Red Lotus Sword [2] 150 Made from Honglyeong's Sword (aka Red Lotus Sword) with Hero Equipment Cube. Solid Cart Cannon boost, also combo with Great Hero Boots. Not too hard to get.
Thanos Sword-AD [2] 190 Combo with Thanos Shooter Helm-LT. Boost both Cart Cannon and Acidified build, making the transition very smooth, plus very cheap to obtain. Make from Thanos Sword (with Gray Shard from Ghost Palace) and Thanos Weapon Reform Cube (from Ghost Palace at high difficulties or very cheap on the market)
Blood Rapier [2] 215 Combo with Crown. Again, quite hard to obtain: a chance to obtain a box (out of two) that randomly gives a weapon that may be the rapier when doing Thanatos Tower at high difficulty. However, the build is very good.
Enhanced Archer Skeleton Card   From a mob in Room of Consciousness instance. Combo with Bath Manager Card and Greater Papila Card to increase Cart Cannon
Contaminated Wanderer Card   Best size card for weapons due to the majority of mob and most mvp are medium and large.
White Knight Card   Combo with Khalitzburg Knight Card (not Khalitzburg Card) for a higher bonus than Contaminated Wanderer, but only one White Knight Card can combo so 1 ConWan 1 WK
     

Shield

Any slotted shield - Any shield that has a slot so you can put Khalitzburg Knight Card
Mad Bunny [1] 1 Stepping stone dps shield. Give a good enough bonus.
Made from Mad Bunny Combination Scroll (It has a chance for Cursed Mad Bunny which cannot be upgraded to LT version), which you can obtain from Mysterious Combination Bundle, which drops from any MVP (including the old one you can easily one-shot)
Mad Bunny-LT [1] 160 Made from Mad Bunny at Instance Stop in @go 46. Best shield for DPS.
Khalitzburg Knight Card   Combo with White Knight Card

Manteau

100 Basic physical manteau. AGI is for critical damage aka Mayhemic build.
Convertible Physical Wing [1] 150 Cost a lot of instance coins so it does not worth getting, however if kachua keys give it to you you can use it. However Mayhemic build still wants Temporal AGI. Can combo with Battle Processor for some more bonus
Pirate's Captain Coat [1] 200 Low chance to obtain from Water Garden (H) and Water Garden (N) at high difficulty. One of the best manteau for physical and can be used by both non-crit and crit build.
Flame Rune Manteau [1] 230 I have never used one of these, due to it overloading patk when used with rune boots and I already have PCC.
One of the best manteau. Much stronger than PCC when targeting the correct race with their 3rd enchant.
Happiness Giver Card   Basic long-ranged damage card. Combo with Dame of Sentinel
Galensis Card   Gives a lot of critical chance which Mayhemic may need.
Bio5 Card   Unlikely, but putting it here anyway because they are the BiS

Boots

Flame Rune Boots [1] 230 Best boots. Obtain by reform a +7 Vardmunt Flame Boots at @go 46, right-hand side. Enchant with Power of Varmundt 2nd enchant (any level is fine you can upgrade later) and aim for level 4 or 5 third enchant. (Flame and Death are most favorable)
Greater Papila Card   Combo with Bath Manager and Enhanced Archer Skeleton to boost Cart Cannon damage
Blut Hase Card/Arena Blut Hase   Best general long-ranged damaged card that is not MVP card

Accessories

130 An option. Honestly even though they are not bad they are not that good either and getting the right enchant is quite the chore for both pieces.
Tho if you do want to get them, get 2 Modification Module (Str) and 1 Modification Module (Expert Archer) on R and 2 Modification Module (Luk) and 1 Modification Module (Expert Archer) on L.
Gem Ring of Sin &

170 Aka Thanatos accessories or Sinful/Brilliant Light accessories. The gem can be Ruby, Emerald, Zircon, etc.
The Sinful and Brilliant light work almost the same way: giving a total of 20% atk, 7% vct, some fct. and increase damage to Angel
Differences are Sinful also increases damage to Dragon, while Brilliant Light also increases damage to Demon; Sinful gives 0.3 fct and Brilliant Light gives 0.2 fct.
Due to the good bonus, easy to obtain this is highly recommended to get.
Star Seal of Power &
Soul Magic Ring

Good combination of raw power from Star Seal and racial targetting from Soul Magic.
Honestly I do not have a good Star Seal but throwing it in here just because why not.

Race targetting set. Besides Angel, Dragon and Demon covered by the Thanatos accessories, these varmundt rune rings give the most racial bonus which is a hard-to-get modifier for damage.
2nd enchant should be Patk for Acidified and C.rate for Mayhemic. 3rd enchant should be at least level 2 and exclude the 3 races covered by Thanatos accessories

Shadow Gear

Infinity Shadow Weapon   Sword has a 25% penalty to small (who care) and large size so you can justify using this

Megablitz Shadow Shield   Very good shield for crit abuse build. Mayhemic. (And no Megablitz Shadow weapon does something else not crit so do not bother)
Full Penetration Set   Highest priority once you stop using Cart Cannon. Increase Mayhemic and Acidified by a margin. Come in four pieces but only two pieces are needed in a set: Armor and Shoes or Necklace and Pendant
Maximum Mammoth Set   Lowest priority. Last piece of equipment you should get. Gives a mix of good offensive and defensive bonuses in the form of the rare "property" modifier, HP and knockback immunity. However they are very hard to get.
Like Full Penetration set, it also has four pieces with only 2 pieces in a set, so mix and match these two sets properly

6. Build commentary
So far I mentioned Acidified build and Mayhemic thorn build. They are the two most promising builds with the highest dps so stop thinking about shitty cart cannon.
Acidified relies on spamming 4 skills Acidified Zone Fire, Wind, Ice and Earth in quick succession, while Mayhemic Thorn is a crit-abusing skill.
Acidified needs crafting acid bottles to use skill (all four types of them), Mayhemic is not.
Acidified has an easier and more smooth transition in gear, Mayhemic pays upfront in gear but nothing after.
Acidified, imo opinion, has higher damage than Mayhemic (and no you cannot change it w.o giving me proper data and test results Comet)
But Mayhemic has higher damage in a party where there're fire buff and fire resistance debuff: where only 1/4 of Acidified is boosted, Mayhemic gets a full boost.

Conclusion: Do Mayhemic: it's far more simple, better role in party, and the upfront cost in gear is every dps build problem so get used to it anyway.

 

Aaaaaand that's it for this guide. Usually it is time to credit people who help with the guide but since nobody gives a sht about this class I have to pull all of these biases out on a whim, plus the model is Jocat's crap guide means I have the right to credit nobody but myself. If anyone has a problem with that or anything I say in this guide they disagree with they better write their own guide because I will not take any advice or constructive criticism.
