Psychic FrostFire: Autocast Super Novice Theoryguide

0. WARNING! Hyper Novice skills releasaed!

Spoiler

I did warn that this guide is at risk of being outdated sooner or earlier. But that's okay, nonetheless.

Hyper Novice has been released to Sakray Server in kRO. I'll just keep it short and rant on the later section of the guide but ANYWAY. Autocast super novice got the Ignition BreakTM treatment and will likely not see any support. If you still want to dabble in the Autocast playstyle, I have recommendations for you!

"I have an actual skill branch dedicated to autocasting" tier: Night Watch(Physical) Abyss Chaser(Magical)

"I have like 1 or 2 skills dedicated to autocasting, I want to meme" tier: Wind Hawk(Physical) Cardinal(Magical)

"I barely have autocast support but it doesn't matter because I'm a giant ball of stats" tier: Critical Dragon Knight(Physical, EXPENSIVE)

I. Introduction and Disclaimer

Spoiler

Hello everyone! I'm just a nobody here. I've started playing Shining Moon over a month ago and I'm having a blast! I don't really have any accolades to brag about. Well I did make TC Sura and IB RK as my first two characters, poor financial decision on my part. Well whatever, here are the disclaimers!

  • This is a Theoryguide. What is that you ask? Well it's a Theorycraft and a guide! Well, why am I doing a guide without putting the evidence beforehand? Well, first I am gonna have all the stuff I need by the end of the month (I just finished TC sura and woooh boy those Maximum Mammoth accessories really put a dent on my Zeny), give me time, please! And also, I can't stop thinking about Super Novice and I have to vent myself by making a guide as well. I hope it's gonna give some prospective Super Novices some ideas on what to do as well! I think the gear choices I made are rather sensible, anyway up to you to criticize.
  • This is an off-meta build. We're not kidding anyone here, Super Novice is on the bottom of the barrel, and try as we might, it's gonna stay there. This is very proc-dependent (kinda obvious) which means damage can be very sporadic! Here's some Hopium though because we're gonna see the upcomg Hyper Novice class very soon (at the time of this writing, anyway!), but also depending on how Hyper Novice skills' gonna work, this guide can easily get outdated, you have been warned! Don't worry most of the stuff is easily translated to either Sorc or Auto spell shadow chaser
  • This is (kinda) not kind to your Zeny. I'm gonna shamelessly assume that all gear I'm saying here are at +12 refine and Shadow gears at +10 refine. Please don't immediately main Super Novice as your first character due to this guide. Unless you like starting from the bottom, I guess!

That's all I suppose! Hope you enjoy the guide! Leave a like and subscribe

II. Super Novice and Autocast and Stats

Spoiler

Super_Novice.png.32133c908c45da62a14c6629ee74e787.png

Super Novice is an expandead class. They are basically an amalgamation of first job skills, and then they can get a variety of meh second job skills once they reach 99/99. Personally, they had a pretty good concept for this class, jack of all trades, master of none. I suppose they were good pre-renewal but oh boy renewal has left these class in the dirt. The third job skills generally are just way too much better. Thankfully, we're getting around this and yoinking some third job classes for our own thanks to...

Autocast

It is what it is, autocasting means casting a skill through dealing or receiving damage. Here's basically what you need to know about autocast:

  • They have no cast time. That's right, no need to give your kidneys to have 100% VCT reductions through gears or stats, the FCT can frick right off too.
  • They have AFTER-CAST DELAY. I'll just note that here because while autocast skills ignore cast-delay, those from our skill hotbar doesn't. I'm saying this is still relevant because while Super Novice' skillset as a whole is a pile of dung, there are a couple of decent skills that could help us survive in a pinch.

Stat Distribution - This is a matter of preference so I am just gonna put my opinion on this

  • STR : Secondary dump stat. We won't need these, we get +4000 weight for free with skill points (even more with Cart)
  • AGI : up to 193 ASPD, keep in mind of your buffs when pumping points into this!
  • VIT : Try to get this as high as possible once you've hit your 193 ASPD and 130 INT
  • INT : 130, no buts!
  • DEX : get some for HIT, or ASPD... for reducing VCT of your buff spells... ugh?
  • LUK : Primary dump stat. MATK and perfect dodge

TRAITS: SPL then CON, nuff said

III. Skill Repertoire

Spoiler

Here are the skills we are gonna be autocasting:

JackFrostDesc.PNG.76a1ecf50a62403684cd5d864f1cb79c.PNGFrostyMistDesc.PNG.18f0435d50912920b52d9b7f692c4622.PNGMeteorStormDesc.PNG.32f28426bf7cbf56bd286eac266bbeed.PNGPsychicWaveDesc.PNG.5d9a693e5e95e025ce4bacdd01323f82.PNG

These spells have 1sec ACD, except Jack Frost which has 0.5 sec ACD!

Jack_Frost.png.05ca8b2a6dc395dd83106697a770aacc.png Jack Frost & Frost_Misty.png.b0a5e9211a5ec8e4b12eaffdced5bb16.png Frost Misty : Okay gonna group the two here since they basically synergize. We are autocasting Frost Misty at level 3 and Jack Frost at level 4. Frost misty gives enemies freezing, which amplifies Jack Frost damage. 3600% MATK is not that bad! Notable thing here is that Jack Frost has 0.5sec ACD. We're gonna proccing both these spells quite a bit since they have around 8% proc chance from auto attacks!

Meteor_Storm.png.9d4723d14a54f1e66a44dbf190b74346.png Meteor Storm : This is our only second-job skill that we're gonna autocast. We are casting this at level 7. 125% MATK with 20 hits for a total of 2500% MATK optimally but the meteors sure take their time to fall. Looks flashy as hell though.

Psychic_Wave.png.69d17f3d1543610d26122625d7d3dc8b.png Psychic Wave : Holy smokes, this is the biggest gun for this autocast build. We are casting this at level four which means 280% MATK as base damage for 6 hits (2 hits per second), here is the formula.

MATK = [Base+(Int*3)] * (Baselvl/100)

At 130 INT that is 4080% MATK! and we're not counting the base level boost as well. This is where the big PP damage's gonna come from. It is fortunate because unlike Meteor Storm and Jack Frost, Psychic wave has dedicated gear and cards to boost its damage output!

Honorable Mentions - not the focus of the build but we're getting them through gears/cards.

KillingCloud.PNG.4379c30980338ac25414c8904ce76ced.PNGSoulStrike.PNG.220b0eb3f364716764c8068dbb8bf695.PNG

Killing_Cloud.png.02744fe7323658ab1d1d4f0ee0561b3c.png Killing Cloud : We get this from the Immortal Wind Ghost Card. Do keep in mind this procs from magical attacks, not our auto attacks. Thankfully we deal our damage in a thousand cuts so this should be very easy to cast despite the 1% chance, especially on mobby areas!

Soul_Strike.png.9dd6cd31d11d3b5d30f280b6a1e5bf4f.png Soul Strike : Might as well add a first job skill to the mix... 5 hits of 100% MATK, with +50% damage to undead monsters. Comes from CD in mouth Uh, cute... I guess? It has a rather bad ACD too of 1.4s, yuck! It's up to you if the benefits of CD in mouth are worth, you could always go rainbow scarf I guess..

IV. Skill repertoire - actually looking at our Super Novice skillset KEKW

Spoiler

I'm gonna divide this into three parts: Passives, Panic Buttons and Buffs

PASSIVES

Increase_SP_Recovery.png.5a755c8f0b851cdfce3df2d676c8bb13.png Increase SP Recovery - Runaway Magic's gonna kill our SP pool, so, NO.

4.png.795247b166428a3fd51c59a8f8a11dce.png Increase HP Recovery - Only noteworthy thing here is the HP recovery rate for items.

616d39fd52526_Owls_Eye.png.08a0d914b9d20f1bcd087618c48e3cfd.png Owl's Eye - Free DEX, that's it

107.png.13ea2a1703547f04288040dcf9615c29.png Weaponry Research - you're literally just getting this for the HIT bonus. No.

Enlarge_Weight_Limit.png.dbc592779bc8e4940daadfb17047a6cf.png Enlarge Weight Limit - More weight's always nice

Pushcart.png.c0a52aa054667a558fc412ea15b37cef.png Pushcart - A place to store your consumables. If you happen to have 10 skillpoints lying around, why not?

Faith.png.20ece2a645a6553d94c58385d39dfb3b.png Faith - More MaxHP

5075.png.f6991ac483630d25577dd64b1eb1b08a.png Breakthrough - Wooooh, more MaxHP

5077.png.b4feb14e9b68ff64ebfaa3baff8c1eee.png Transcendence - Wow, even more MaxHP! also MATK, finally a decent passive...

Demon_Bane.png.e9af716b5589b50acc29228027671e0e.png Demon Bane - inevitably putting points for Blessing

Improve_Dodge.png.dd64eefdb3d642ab9725fded7d1d6f41.png Improve Dodge - FLEE can be important, but when mobbing, the more mobs there is, the less FLEE we get. so in a way, this increases the threshold of how many mobs we can handle before FLEE stops working.

Double_Attack.png.bf8e9252c732636094fe4d7a398cd6ce.png Double Attack - I'm just putting it here to clarify that this is a TRAP! This double the damage, not the attack!

BUFFS

Blessing.png.5348e269d17f57c9d7ab70fb0ac553ed.png Blessing & Increase_AGI.png.93e4af3b469d0d787031fc5dfaae83a5.png Increase AGI - The Healer Poring buffs! These are always nice to have, and they last a minute longer than what the Healer Poring provides, so pretty nice for the longer instances cough OGH cough

Gloria.png.0e539f8940d66a6fe405182dd10636a7.png Gloria - LUK+30. looks nice in paper but the hefty cast delay and only lasting for 30 seconds is pretty meh. I mean.. not that mobs last that long in the server, so I guess it's still okay.

Impositio_Manus.png.62ef4401c9bfac9e2025aa04e4ccac30.png Impositio Manus - ATK and MATK+25 for 2 minutes. Nice buff, very basic.

Angelus.png.82ded6717b20f31acbdc9f9c87da700e.png Angelus - Super Novices are infamously known for their shitty HP pools so we might as well get this.

74.png.d1456a5f02f2323eb6c2fa26feb90d56.png Magnificat - If you're having SP recovery problems. our SP pool is nonexistent. No.

Improve_Concentration.png.7fa160a7ba8df23284e3fe47aba65a88.png Improve Concentration - Decent AGI and Dex buff. Highly recommended.

213.png.0579ad7127a369ccc620302d52164f5d.png Raid - Buffs are relative. 30% increased damage (15% to bosses) for 10 seconds is pretty nice. cast delay is based on ASPD, so make sure to have 193 ASPD up. requires to be hidden to be cast. I suppose it's like the magnum break equivalent for us.

PANIC BUTTONS

Be mindful of after cast delay from autocast, it's important to know when to stop autoattacking and use these skills

5076.png.bfb89262b7cc75d58a48a76d56e60bc0.png Help me, Angel! - It's nice, but the cooldown is atrocious.

Sightrasher.png.405035d2d9860aa57a33618f4d277b00.png Sightrasher - turn that sight fireball into a GTFO button.

Quagmire.png.8ec91f9b3d943bb786ce213632a69fe8.png Quagmire - ensure that mobs take a hell lot of longer to get to you

Safety_Wall.png.b390053b6e0a328b156cb3feb7ff047e.png Safety Wall - Melee enemies cucking you over? This is for you. Requires blue gemstone

Pneuma.png.dcc2111f5f6226aa04de52399e8439b7.png Pneuma - Ranged enemies cucking you over? This is for you.

Hiding.png.2aa577c0a51fe214526c7f7163ea5cec.png Hiding & Stalk.png.08b6046786bebe462cbc74ec3c169cda.png Stalk - Well, a literal panic button, figuratively, mechanically, everythingly. You're putting points in this for raid so it's basically free I suppose.

72.png.ac7e68923f0d38416bcd206540ff46e9.png Status Recovery - Cures the bad stuff away.

V. Gear - Optimal (ish?)

Spoiler

Uh, before we start talking about gears, do keep in mind we are gonna use Super Novice Spirit from Soul Linker so that we can cheat our way into any headgear and Lvl 4 weapons, now on to...

DISCLAIMER: The enchants of the Temporal Circlet (Sorcerer) is VERY Important here. If you don't have the money to get Temporal Int lvl 3 + Magic Essence(Even Temporal INT lvl 3 is fine!), I highly consider Celine Set, see the Running the Numbers section for details. Still have to test though.

THE CORE ITEMS

PatentMadogum.PNG.41fbb31d99a5ec2e1045bf23927f9e6c.PNGAutoSpellArmor.PNG.d058f88e17021df9b4602de97391b4b1.PNGAutoSpellShoes.PNG.a7b305de4f7ac9c693e630d660d1c64d.PNG

Patent Madogum: Without this, you are not gonna be able to autocast those meteors and psychic waves. Please have this one. All around good stats too.

Major Auto Spell Armor and Shoes: I'm putting this here instead of the shadow gear section because it's that important. 7% chance to autocast Frost Misty and 8% chance to autocast Jack Frost. Gives ASPD, Matk+% and all property magic damage. Literally all we could ever ask for.

UPPER & LOWER HEADGEAR

TempCirclet.PNG.8641376d1de178ff61342a96bf164e19.PNGTempCircletWarlock.PNG.85a1b309b71d20aada8f4e7289d9f5eb.PNGRacingCapArch.PNG.4e87ab5aa9c7879956178597de64402f.PNGCD.PNG.89b20fab4d42fa4372caeab94829f2b8.PNG

The choice between the two temporal circlets is for the skill boosts. After a bit of testing, I've found that using Warlock gives a higher DPS floor but lower DPS ceiling and Sorcerer is lower DPS floor but high DPS ceiling. So basically Warlock for more consistent DPS because we are casting Frost Misty and Jack frost much more frequently than Psychic Wave, and Sorcerer if you wanna gamble for those consecutive lvl 4 psychic wave autocasts.

Racing cap I put out there as a meme choice, If you happen to have an Archbishop Bio5 MVP card... or even a Himmelmez Phantom card, feel free to try the meme for yourself KEKW

CD in mouth is just... there. It's the best we got.

AUTOMATIC ARMOR AND BATTLE CHIP

AutomaticB.PNG.5ff42bf1e8b57054e40d25ec600125ce.PNGAutomaticBattle.PNG.b774107292ebcc9bdd3d558fdd4cfc81.PNG

Automatic armor and its battle chip counterpart's still decent at this time of writing.

For Armor the enchants are : 2x Shadowspell 1 ACD. Each shadow spell module is a 25% all property magic increase! Magic Power now for that big butt 75 MATK and +10%MATK

For Battle chip the enchants are : Spell/All Force/Attack speed or Magic Healing. Attack speed vs Magic healing is a matter of preference.

TEMPORAL WOMBO COMBO

INTManteau.PNG.63e8841dee0bd9f689dd47dd37454939.PNGINTBoots.PNG.868ccbecac8e45b8e0b01f547595a591.PNGDPInsignia.PNG.cd224ad9428929c6c145e083e3f7e000.PNG

The standard magic stuff. -15% ACD from manteau +6% MATK from manteau, Runaway Magic/Spell 5 for the boots and Divine Power/Spell5/whatever for the Insignia. Runaway Magic is a pretty huge buff and should be very easy to proc due to how... multi-hitty our autocast skills are!

THE SHIELD

MadBunny.PNG.f1c429e5ba1d6b1499f937db6f4a45a0.PNGPKS.PNG.1d5837330633a6c2ad3c85d469393005.PNG

Between these two, it's a matter of budget. If you can get even an ungraded +12 Mad Bunny, it will be better compared to PKS.

BATTLE PROCESSOR AND CONVERTIBLE WING

ConvertibleMagical.PNG.9777c4c0bc3a28e9e4993cadedd5c69a.PNGBattleProcessor.PNG.80bf1a3feaa4407e1ce7ff89f992e2b7.PNG

These would simply be the best option here. Compared to Temporal INT manteau, Convertible's stats are all relevant in the grand scheme of things. For battle processor, either +14% neutral or +14% water

VI. Gear - Budget (ish?)

Spoiler

Let's do this FAQ style.

I ALREADY HAVE GEAR FROM MAGIC CLASS, CAN I USE THAT?

CelineRibbon.PNG.334dcbb67dade5bbdeed4d90b0b7f915.PNGCelineDress.PNG.438c7ed69281382cbe922575c9562dfd.PNGCelineBrooch.PNG.1908bb1c0e8c9fdeccc5cb40b3ae70d6.PNGEvilSpiritGlove.PNG.f0b3d74b695149bfb482491b92f4fda5.PNG

We all know you're referring to the Celine Set. The answer is YES! Of course you can. Evil spirit gloves also has nice autocast procs as well, although they are bit on the low side. Might even have a slight edge against boss monsters as well! This set is still considered the BiS for skills without dedicated skill boosts or headgears due to how varied its damage modifiers are and the raw MATK it gives. It's a very worthy alternative to the Optimal build.

I AM BOOSTER AND I WANT TO GET AUTO-ATTACKING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Madogum.PNG.9c973777d36f7e50036567e6b9e5900d.PNGFacewormQueen.PNG.c3520b576bca873834acf09914393d76.PNG

If you have spare cash to refine, pick Madogum. If you're a cheapskate like me, pick Faceworm Queen Leg. Almighty, not Dying, Enriched Celermine juice, all your buffs yadda yadda to get to 193 ASPD asap immensely helps.

NOTE ABOUT FACEWORM QUEEN LEG: While Earthquake is treated as a magic skill, it's modifier is from ATK, not MATK. Yes, it is quite ridiculous, you can pump some STR in the meantime if you're just using this as your levelling weapon I guess..?

SoonTMSuper Novices are about to get their dedicated booster weapons! It's still pretty bad though compared to Patent madogum but they are really easy to get with booster coins.

CHEAP HEADGEAR(?), PLEASE!

RainbowScarf.PNG.7c861c4c9871b29b0b62b6d58653855b.PNG

Rainbow scarf is a fine alternative if you don't have any instance coins, I don't know, maybe you're saving for Mad Bunny-LT, I ain't judging.

VII. Running down the numbers

Spoiler

Celine Set or the Recommended Set? Which would be better? With the power of spreadsheets, let's run down the numbers. Feast your eyes! Take my math with a grain of salt!

NOTE: This does not consider other stuff given from raw stats like DEX/INT/Whatever! MATK+% from other stuff because wiki page vs divine pride is conflicting lol.

NOTENOTE: Temp. Circlet at Level 5. Magic Essence and Lvl. 3 Temporal INT jewel. Automatic B-Type at Shadow/Shadow/ACD. YES, ACD. Magic Power would give 75 more MATK and +10% MATK.

DATAAA.PNG.92ae9f73a60f3d93f5ebe3a6fe3ad0d6.PNG

Data2.PNG.5b6d16ae4daa962a3578697a7e34426f.PNG

See, they're both very similar! As I said, Celine set would have a slight edge against boss monsters. Honestly, the definitive factor is the Psychic Wave skill boost. 57 MATK vs 9 to 14 MATK+% is gonna depend on how big you can raise your MATK, and I think that's very easy with the trait stats nowadays. And like AOS said, if Psychic wave isn't your main damage skill, Celine set would be better because racial, boss, and size modifiers stack differently and could result in way better damage than going all in on all prop+%

I DON'T HAVE TIME TO BULLSHIT THROUGH RNG ENCHANTS!

I feel ya friend, here's a comparison table Automatic B-Type with Shadow/Shadow/Magic Power and a clean Temporal Circlet (or scuffed, whatever, not counting the other enchants)

Data3.PNG.ad5b554bce17825bf1c785c4e2ab4322.PNG

Whaddya know, it looked almost the same. I think at this point it is very even. Well moral of the story is, if you can splurge on some zeny, Temporal circlet is gonna be better, way better. This is the kind of thing that warrants further, actual testing. I'm just gonna get both then for the sake of science! (Celine first because holy smokes that KSDI is very expensive lmfao)

EDIT: Forgot the +50MATK from Celine Brooch + Spirit glove, whoops, Edited the images properly now. Makes Celine Set even more favorable! BUT I HAVE EVIDENCE, WITH NUMBERS!

COMPARISON.PNG.62798c5eb4a5654ca9aa59e942a559a7.PNG

I did not add Demihuman and Boss modifiers to Celine set by the way No base damage numbers included too, and uh no MDEF because we're using full tempest set. I combined Elem and all prop into one, and that's how I got these numbers. As you can see, Optimal set is way better if focusing on a PW build. Focusing on PW build in general makes the Optimal set the choice, But if one wants a more rounded suite, you could always opt for Celine Set. Again, it's important to note our Autocast's skill's damage scaling. Meteor Storm is at 2500%MATK totalling all meteor and their hits, Jack frost either 1900% or 3600% MATK and Psychic Wave at 1380% MATK (Jeweliant Autocast, 130 INT) or 4020%MATK (Madogum Autocast, 130 INT), Killing Cloud is 600%MATK per second. This is where deliberating gets a little tough, as while the meta in Ragnarok is to focus on one skill and spam it, the nature of autocast means we don't know what we are spamming, so it is up to us to either hope for the big highs or spread out the love. Also Psychic Wave is neutral so you can be kinda fucked if you're fighting against Ghost element monsters lmao

Still no clue how I got these numbers?

Let's look at Celine set's modifiers

It has 32 % MATK, 50% elem, %15 all race, %15 all size

Formula = ((MATK)MATK%)ELEM%)RACE%)SIZE%))

1.32*1.5*1.15*1.15

2.61855 total modifier!

I mean, I'd love to be corrected wrong concerning about the formula, because I'm basing this from the physicall attack formula I've been scouring through the internet, gosh, finding complex maths for this game is like... so hard to obtain wtf.

Want more numbers? Here you go, factoring the modifiers from convertible, BP, temp boots(but not the INT from Runaway Magic) and PKS, along with Mutated combo. Again the usual assumptions, base damage is 1% MATK. Also PW modifier includes the +14% neutral property from BP. I only showcased card combos featuring Celine and Clean modifiers. Bookworm only showcases PW damage. As you can see, Card combos immensely help in either focusing or spreading the damage! I am sorry if it's... hard to read KEKW.

COMPARISON2.PNG.2b884691c0747dc023998b838447f066.PNG

TESTING ON EGGS

DISCLAIMER: I've only looked at like 3 minutes of DPS showing in the chat screen. RNG is a cruel mistress and does not like to be measured, take these as what you will

future TL;DW : Celine Set about 2-9m dps, Temp. Sorc about 3-13m dps(It was double bookworm combo iirc), Temp. Warlock about 4-9m dps (ish???)

VIII. Cards

Spoiler

Okay, in this section, I'll highlight the plausible card combos to boost our autocast skills. This is where the build starts to divert from the norm compared to the very basic and tried-and-true(usually) gear section. This is gonna get a lot more theoretical! It is up to you to mix-match these things until I can properly test KEKW. I'm not gonna talk about MVP cards but there is one exception, that card.

TAO GUNKA

TaoGunka.PNG.7a06c6329224d97e03720725dee884d8.PNG

Gravity forgot to consider Super Novice's HP pool into consideration for lvl 200+ content. If you're planning to take Super Novice seriously, this is your next step (Until Gravity works on revamping Super Novice along with Hyper Novice in Sakray server on November 3, here have some hopium). This is... somewhat cheap in terms of relevant MVP cards so... Yes, yes I know the scaling is bad given Super Novice's HP pool, but seriously, we are desperate for that more HP. more HP means more window to spam those potions and yggdrasil berry and not get one shot..? idk. I think this will give... 10-12k extra HP??(I don't know how flat MHP bonus is taken into account) Pretty huge IMO. Defense can easily be negated with a shining defense scroll.

NAPEO vs. MARSH ARCLOUSE

Napeo.PNG.34eb7dfdb76b8e48848992240aa5c604.PNGMarshArclouse.PNG.1067b5d7ce8b146e7eaddcb59d9aa23d.PNG

A matter of preference if you need the attack speed bonus or not.

BOOKWORM COMBO

Bookworm.PNG.d32b1a97991f8e604ee482d868f11fbf.PNGBluePitaya.PNG.ba94d6e11b4bdd378953998c8f04a3f6.PNGResearchAssistant.PNG.b238587f123a3341c40f818d7cd938de.PNG

This gives a whopping 60% total damage increase on Psychic Wave, but it's pretty much that... Blue Pitaya is really bad but Research Assistant actually looks decent just for the HP bonus so..

LUDE GAL AND GHOST CUBE COMBO

LudeGal.PNG.863ac5a9b14660c75fa4c10dbe8c04d7.PNGGhostCube.PNG.bfa2284ef81d5f08c7b43d6fe991524e.PNG

Oh wow, specific cards for this class?! What a timeline we live in. 40% water and fire damage increase that is easily procced, MaxHP+ MaxSP+ and that big chonky Matk+10%? I think this combo is pretty good.

JEWELIANT COMBO

Jeweliant.PNG.73a809f3d196f1867cfd0b56b31b8f88.PNGUngoliant.PNG.efe23f50da5d8495fcf0ac8034abffa8.PNG

30% neutral property magic damage and a decent chance to cast a measly level 1 psychic wave. Ew. Psychic waves stack so might as well! Even then, this might still be worth considering because while Psychic Wave is our skill that has the most damaging potential, we have very measly autocast chance for it.

IMMORTAL WIND GHOST

ImmortalWind.PNG.bb85158a69eb6ee992d2968c8b269dd8.PNG

Immortal Wind Ghost is pretty decent +10% MATK and even though 1% looks very slim, we have a lot of on-hit magical attacks so that level 5 killing cloud will still be a somewhat common sight when auto-attacking.

MUTATED WHITE KNIGHT AND KHALITZBURG COMBO

WhiteKnight.PNG.fa9b2a9aa26e915d774cd756ac25e9ed.PNGKhalitzburg.PNG.9e2a9f551b4cd02f5b68eb04344c2e63.PNG

Well, if you're a magic class playing a shield, these two automatically go to your weapon and shield card slots. They're just that good.

NIGHTMARE VERIT AND AGAV

NightmareVerit.PNG.742730d084dc7af2335b57189190e0b4.PNGAgav.PNG.6ed79964c9c4f57a968dd1b66439f967.PNG

Well, can never go wrong with basic MATK+% cards!

OTHER CARDS (ELEM-SPECIFIC DAMAGE BOOST, MATK, ETC.)

Since we are focusing on Neutral, Fire and Water magic, that's the ones I will only list:

GARMENT: Purple Pitaya (Neutral) Nightmare Ancient Mummy (Fire) Faceworm Larvae (Water)

WEAPON (imo not recommended but you do you): Magic-Poisoned Plaga (Neutral) Red Pitaya (Fire) Blue Pitaya (Water)

HEADGEAR:  Plaga (Neutral) Lichtern Red (Fire) Lichtern Blue (Water)

Other notable cards: Weakened Fenrir (MATK +25) Dwigh (20% Neutral), Salamander (40% Meteor Storm), Headless Mule (20% Water)

WTF I KEEP DYING? HELP!

Bungisngis.PNG.9b840d3fb1e62556d5184f51a77c3b0e.PNGRigidSkyDeleter.PNG.fa421214d5a438234a5481f65c12d471.PNGDeviling.PNG.033135405691dea46eaffabd21989150.PNGOminousSolider.PNG.8b0111ea7e10fb5b15e34c18c3f5d974.PNG

Bungisngis and Sky Deleter combo give a nice +16% max HP. Deviling card if you're desperate to not die to mobs, garment cards are usually very nice offensively (non-MVP) so you're sacrificing a bit of firepower for this one, but gotta do what it takes to survive, right? Armor property cards I do not recommend, we have consumables for that. Research Assitant Bot for +10% Max HP and Ominous Solider for another +14% Max HP. wtf are we building a Sura? More stuff in the consumables section

CARD COMBOS: FAQ STYLE

I want to focus on Psychic Wave: Jeweliant + Bookworm combo OR Double Bookworm combo (HIGH but very SPORADIC DPS)

Actually, Jack Frost and Meteor Storm could use a bit of help: Lude Gal combo, Weakened Fenrir, Lichtern Red/Blue, Salamander(Meteor Storm garment) or Faceworm Larvae (Water Garment)

Fuck Killing cloud, I want more damage boost to the main 3: Double Mutated White Knight + Khalitzburg

IX. Shadow Gear

Spoiler

We already talked about the Major Auto Spell set, so that leaves 4 slots to cover, here we go! From an advice perspective. If you're planning to buy something that's gonna last, GET THESE because these are the BiS usually for magic classes!

FULL TEMPEST ACCESSORY SET

FulltempestEarring.PNG.7398f14800ac9256c9a7c4aa3acb71b1.PNGFulltempestPendant.PNG.20cedc77986ed99b0b9fd75c72d65df2.PNG

The MDEF pierce is real. this is a MUST-HAVE.

CLEVER SET

CleverWeapon.PNG.3b8ef9ecd42ad7549db3a87a46aab7a3.PNGCleverShield.PNG.a31c2d345058d868656bae038eb5449e.PNG

We really don't have any shadow wep + shadow shield combo worth looking for so the typical Clever set will do.

SHADOW EQUIPMENT ENCHANTS: Never go wrong with MATK+3% !!!

SOONTM : Super Novice Booster Shadow Weapon gives some flat bonus like MATK and 1500 HP, it's worth considering.

X. Costume Enchants

Spoiler

MAGIC POWER

MagicPower.PNG.6b1cccbd18c72d8ed0ba9424fc9aa7e5.PNG

All the stones give simple, clean, 25% all property magic damage. Fits with Sorcerer garment for extra 10% Psychic Wave damage

SKILL-SPECIFIC BOOSTS

Since skill modifier is treated as a different modifier, this could noticeably increase the damage to that specific skill.

Warlock Stone (Upper + Middle) + Warlock II Garment = 30% Jack Frost damage

High Wizard Stone (Upper), High Wizard Stone II (Middle) = Each give 20% Meteor Storm Damage

Professor Stone (Upper) + Sorcerer Stone (Middle) [Not released yet+ Sorcerer Garment = 40% Psychic Wave Damage

XI. Consumables (AKA how to get 193 ASPD and stop dying)

Spoiler

Consumables will be a big part of our gameplay as a super novice. We really, really, really need all the help we can get. Hold on to your wallets, because this can get real expensive if you don't have a crafting geneticist. There are usually 3 sources for this: Monster Hunter NPC, Crafting Geneticist(takes some time) or the market (real pricy), and Booster Coin Shop. Also take into account how heavy these things can be! For 10 skill points we have our own cart so the issue is somewhat mediated.

GETTING THAT 193 ASPD: Super Novice have a stupid -15 ASPD when they equip a dagger of all things. Jeez Gravity, all novices are given a goddamn knife, you'd think they'd be somewhat proficient in daggers once they reach Super Novice, but no apparently.

ASPD% consumables - these usually get removed when you die

Celermine.png.ebb2a2972386c338c27de7a6f43e35ee.png Enriched Celermine Juice: 10% ASPD increase

Awakening.png.ecdf47de591e4fe540a9295b9d36b73d.png Infinite Awakening Potion: 15% ASPD increase

ASPDEnhancing.png.b166c174c213f157c9c697321625e919.png ASPD Enhancing Potion: I don't know the actual value but it's still a pretty noticeable ASPD increase. persists upon death

RedBooster.png.81546b66535299bfd29ff0f5caad2a16.png Red Booster: NOT RECOMMENDED, but if you are really desperate for it because being a booster character gives these A LOT. 5% ASPD for -10% Max HP and +30 ATK and MATK

STAT FOODS - these usually stay even if you die

BiscuitBag.png.e261faf3c538c5f2589289a886f306cc.png Half Biscuit Bag: gives +15 stats for 30 minutes

Almighty.png.575a7e3c1f78bc9e93843d8aaa82047b.png Almighty: +10 all stats WITH +30 ATK and MATK for 30 minutes. does not stack with the biscuits

WargBlood.png.9d80071106dc9f1ece904529476b998f.png Wug blood Cocktail: +20 INT for 5 minutes. More POWERR!!

DroseraHerb.png.777b2d8c551543b07d9d04c12a39eae1.png Drosera Herb Stew: +20 AGI for 5 minutes. Important for ASPD

SiromaIced.png.8110eb3c8de2b6c87dfd86e09cef08c3.png Siroma Iced Tea: +20 DEX for 5 minutes. Important for ASPD

MinorBrisket.png.e86d84be27db35b5906860347f099252.png Minor Brisket: +20 VIT for 5 minutes. If you need more MAXHP. IMO purely optional

TRYING NOT TO DIE: Yep, shitty HP pool means we can't really handle large mobs and we are much more prone to getting one-shotted. Playing literally any other class gives us much more leeway from mistake. Super Novices don't have that leeway. So my advice is to be much more cautious when handling mobs, know how much you can handle.

ShiningDefense.png.4b5328739fd5c2ed4237a3830b108ea1.png Element Property Armor Scrolls: use these depending where you're doing stuff at.

ShiningDefense.png.4b5328739fd5c2ed4237a3830b108ea1.png Shining Defense scroll: absolutely essential do not leave town without one up. +500 DEF and +200 MDEF for 10 minutes

LifeWater.png.9fcf40e6e01d1179de7227760dce31a3.png Life Water Package: these contain 20 small life potion, 20 medium life potion and 20 mysterious water of life. they all stack with each other. They're not much effective with our small HP pools but we take what we get. These all last 10 minutes

HPIncrease.png.9fc7701e8f9e13b522077cac3040f15c.png HP Increase Potion (Large): Decent Max HP buff

ConcentratedGolden.png.fd606f3d3a4dfab022f3a6f9211ddebc.png Concentrated Golden Syrup: 2750 HP per gulp. that's like, 10% of our HP, pretty insane.

YggdrasilBerry.png.8d3714143fdac3ab74f222986080c673.png Yggdrasil Berry: recover to 100% max HP and SP instantly! HAS A COOLDOWN!

GoldenX.png.b77622c1d14bbbd95117170145b42db5.png Golden X: maybe I'm being a meme here but I could totally see ourselves dying to our puny melee autoattacks KEKW. know where you need them!

BUFFING OURSELVES UP: Aside from our skillset, there's other goodies that could raise our damage further. Is it needed in levelling? Maybe. killing enemies faster so they can't kill us first is the MO in Ragnarok.

BlueHerb.png.b13fd0789cc11bcbb2e9630fdd7c35da.png Blue Herb Activator: 15% all property magic damage. Nice! lasts 500 seconds

InfinityDrink.png.467fd097f4bb84b37f60108e639e5199.png Infinity Drink: This has a lot to offer, all of them at +5%. The ones relevant to this build it MaxHP and all property magic damage. lasts 30 minutes.

LimitedPower.gif.8d95649cd6f8d6a5439dd5e980a8caed.gif Limited Power Booster: THIS ONE IS SO GOOD! Just gonna list the relevant stats. +30 MATK, +1 ASPD, +1% MATK and +30 HIT and FLEE. lasts 30 minutes.

XII. Preparing for the future (level 5 weapons and level 2 armor, Hyper Novice)

Spoiler

Looking at Hyper Novice, their skillset will be basically improved versions of 2nd-job skills. We see this with Meteor Storm Buster, Jack Frost Nova, Double Bowling Bash, etc. It is possible that they may move out of the autocast niche entirely. Does it worry me? Well, yes, obviously.

THANOS DAGGER AND HELM

ThanosDagger.PNG.5964a921e4eccbb584e3853130259944.PNGThanosHelm.PNG.287ae6adb9e1df2aded751344267364b.PNG

Now I'm taking the "Hyper Novice can wield any weapon" from the devblog very literally but this would be the next step IF, a big IF, they're gonna have an autocast niche. Also, Lunar if you read this, Thanos Helm Reform cubes doesn't exist and if they are they are rarer than unicorns, fix pls.

WHAT IF: AUTOCAST NOVICE IS DEAD? WHERE SHOULD I GO?

I think the answer's pretty obvious. Abyss Chaser has a dedicated branch on their skill tree for autocast, and has actually very useful buffs. Fear not! 95% of the gear here actually works on Abyss chaser! So actually this is an Abyss chaser guide in disguise as well KEKW. Aside from Thanos Dagger and Helm. For shadow gear, you can opt for less MDEF pierce by using Shadow spell set + Shadow Chaser Shadow shield, not sure if that's worth it though you can stick with Shadow spell weapon + Clever shadow shield.

Aaaand, 75% ish of the gear can be easily translated to Sorcerer too! Donafell made an amazing guide for Diamond Dust sorcerer in this very same forum! You can look at it here.

WHAT IF: HYPER NOVICE MAGIC BRANCH LOOKS DOPE AF, HOW SHOULD I GO?

This is like, 2099 material and highly speculative on my part but... Varmundt Death Rune set looks pretty good. And the wolf orb things that act basically the same as automatic modification modules? I can't find it in divine pride.

HYPER NOVICE SKILLSET RANT(?)

So Hyper Novice just got released on Sakray server like a couple days ago. And like 4th jobs skills, it's not really a skill tree, more like two skill sticks. Gravity simplifying it up here sadly. So, basically, Hyper Novice is a dedicated damage dealer class now. Not really the "jack of all trades, master of none" flavor. I'm having a bit of a mixed reaction to this because they can actually deal damage now and be somewhat relevant, BUT I'm gonna miss it, y'know being a horrible amalgamation of job classes.

Gameplay wise, especially the magic branch looks like scuffed Elemental Master (or... Elemental Master magic branch looks like scuffed Hyper Novice KEKW). Physical Hyper Novice looks real strong and can be a decent alternative to those Ignition Break Dragon Knights that felt left behind by Gravity, I think so it is.

I don't know, I'm just not allured to the concept of the class, right now. This opinion might change of course once the server gets its hands on it. I'm more excited for Night Watch, honestly. I feel like Hyper Novice is basically generic spellcaster amped up to 10 and that just doesn't vibe with me. Was this the price to be relevant? A tough pill that I hesitate to swallow.

XIII. Physical/Hybrid Autocast

Spoiler

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Oh, you want to be a hybrid autocaster? Say no more fam. Sidenote, I'm working on the gears and as soon as I have the gears (75% done, just need the PKS for the main hybrid), I'll make a test video and stat/skill distribution. I'll try to make this a bit more concise as... the guide is getting rather huge kinda? Well, whatever.

As you can see.... physical autocast is pretty bad... ye been warned. (doubt my iffy stat distribution will fix it but still, pretty bad!!)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION, PROS AND CONS, STATS

Spoiler

While we have shone the spotlight on Major Autospell armor and shoes, there is a physical counterpart which is on the accessory slots. Not only that, Super novices have the unique shadow gear to easily attain both 100% DEF AND MDEF pierce, thanks to a DEF-pierce PKS + Super Novice Shadow weapon + Super Magic Shadow Shield. For another physical skill we are gonna focus on Ignition Break, that's right! If you looked at Munbalance's video, it'll be that, but I think we'll have a higher DPS now simply because we have better shadow gear available.

Again there are a few problems incorporating IB compared to just Fatal Menace + Power Swing:

  • It's a crit skill, meaning we're gonna need a bit of critical damage and critical rate+
    • +9 from Gloria, +20 from explosion spirit(or +50 if using angel's fury), +15 from nine tails, +8 from weapon, +10(?) from garment = 62~92 crit rate then get the rest from stat points
  • It takes all the weapon card slots. I mean it has a +10% ATK each card but still...

PROS (in theory)

  • More consistent DPS due to a couple more autocast skills at the 6-8% chance
  • Less worries about element conundrum thanks to endow weapon
  • Gravity has a physical damage bias so we might as well join in the fun
  • You're not gonna need a soul linker, stonks

CONS (in theory)

  • Your stat points are going to be really stretched, man, I'm gonna go so far as to say that stat foods are mandatory
  • less HP because your VIT is at risk of being a dump stat
  • Absurd lack of hybrid gears, meaning you'd likely focus on either magic or physical and have the other as a supplement. Very unlikely you're gonna have a skill boost-specific one.
  • We have a crapton of skillpoints but they are going to be stretched too, esp with getting CRIT from explosion spirit and even Gloria, and then dumping points into SP recovery for MDEF pierce. Heck even magnum break(but that is like luxury atm)

STAT DISTRIBUTION (in theory)

  • STR: 120
  • AGI: up to 193 ASPD (I believe this will be easier, in a way, compared to pure magic)
  • VIT: as much as you can
  • INT: 120
  • DEX: likely to be dump stat (care of ASPD)
  • LUK: likely to be dump stat

GEAR (H: Hybrid; P: Physical; M:Magic) likely not gonna include other magic gear because it's literally in the above sections, feel free to mix and match!

Spoiler

UPPER HEADGEAR

  • TempCircletIcon.png.c2125ad1a0c48e660dc046b39b719c9c.png (H) Temporal Circlet (Super Novice) : Well, it's just the perfect headgear for us, and there's no really any other options
    • ENCHANTS: The Temporal Jewel is gonna vary(INT, STR even LUK is fine), but you're gonna need Expectation at the very least for IB.
  • OldRuneCirc.png.5e0ff4914203d0692cff36fdd1e4321b.png (P) Old Rune Circlet: Insane IB skill boost, much easier to enchant compared to Temporal Circlet

  • RacingCapIcon.png.84d681526bcabfa8345336d49a265055.png (M) Racing Cap (Arch Bishop): I mean... 5% autocast Adoramus is good enough for me lmao.

MIDDLE HEADGEAR

  • BattleProcessorIcon.PNG.3f84f60c7acc06917e1fddd1677bae85.PNG (P/M) Battle Processor: Yes, this is like, the only good option. again the enchants depend on which one you wanna focus. Either short physical, neutral prop, or water prop

SHIELD

  • PKSicon.png.215ae16184bbc14cc3a76f1745bfca3c.png Purified Knight's shield with Normal DEF pierce. - if you're fighting boss you'd need either BOSS DEF pierce or BOSS MDEF pierce.
