Donafell 8 Posted March 8, 2021 (edited) _The Donafellian Physical RG Guide__ I'm back! New clothes, new digs, but more importantly, new technology. You may have noticed that your RG tooltips look just a tad different. Well, I may or may not have jumped down into Lunar's hellhole (he named it Doucheland for some reason) and "convinced" him to make some changes (hey Lunar, hope you enjoy the feet pics!). Now, I can already see you all falling over yourselves in gratitude. Thank me later by rodexing me 2b. But first, some holiday photos! Lunar made an appearance outside the Central Moon Coin Bank wearing his signature red, brown, and black garb to address his barefoot subjects. I even sent back a postcard! Table of Contents: Spoiler 1. Introduction 2. Overlit 3. Cannon Spear 4. Luxury Items 5. Changelog 1. Introduction My guide will cover the Physical RG side of the changes, namely, the changes to Cannon Spear, Overbrand, and Hesperius Lit. The bulk of my focus will be on Cannon Spear, since it holds the greatest potential out of all RG skills. 2. Overlit This is no longer the RG build I would recommend. The negotiated changes are minimal at best (a mere 250% skill modifier increase on overbrand), and hesperius lit got nothing. The removal of VCT from both skills doesn't really help you either, since you want instantcast anyway for your buffs, and it wasn't as though RG had any issues achieving INT + DEX*2 = 530 to begin with. You can tell from my tone that I am not excited about this build's potential in the slightest. This is a build that, for the major investment required to enable both overbrand (for AoE) AND hesperius lit (for single target), simply pales in comparison to the power which is Cannon Spear. Consider this part of the guide a mere formality. Anyway ... Overbrand is a two-step skill with several hoops to jump through. First, you MUST cast Moonslasher to get that juicy damage buff (and cast magnum break at the same time, why not?). Next, you have to conquer its ACD and FCT (0.5 seconds). After all that, your damage is gated severely by a 0.35 sec cooldown, meaning that we can only spam overbrand 3 times a second. Hesperius Lit is basically a single-target overbrand with a 0.2 second cooldown. Historically, it has tended to do around 50% more damage than an overbrand, something which has not changed. For the most part, you can ignore the stat scaling on these two skills, which is to say that spec'ing heavily into STR/DEX/VIT gear does not benefit you as much as raw ATK and other modifers. How much ACD? Overbrand has 1 second and Hesperius Lit has 0.5 seconds (down from 3 seconds previously). With the hide-bar tech, overbrand becomes spammable 4-5 times a second and hesperius lit seems to be able to hit 5-6 casts. Calculate your ACD accordingly according to your ping. From experience, 86% and over feels fine, but high ping sufferers may enjoy 100%. 2.1 Stats and Skills Spoiler Stat Guidelines: STR: 120 (Boosts Overbrand) priority 1 VIT: 120 (Boosts Hesperius Lit) priority 1 DEX: 120 (Boosts Overbrand) priority 1 INT: whatever is necessary to hit instant cast (DEX * 2 + INT = 530) priority 1 LUK: if you are aiming for 100% magic dodge on prestige, the formula is INT + LUK = 380 priority 2 AGI: A RG has no issues reaching 193 ATKSPD and in most cases you probably won't need to reach the ATKSPD cap unless your ping can keep up. Throw whatever is left in here, if any DUMP. Traits: POW and CON, standard stuff The Important Skills: Endure 10: free endure Increase HP 10 Magnum 10: any level is fine, but you have spare Job1 points Auto Guard 10: a major source of your tankiness Defender 5: another major source of tankiness Faith 10: holy resist is nice get all 4. Never not be mounted. You lose damage Inspiration 5: no explanation required. You lose half your strength when this is down, so don't die Prestige 5: complete magic immunity if you hit INT + LUK = 380. It's fine if you can't get 100%. But try to pump it as high as possible without sacrificing damage Shield Spell 3: free ATK Piety 5: free holy armor King's Grace 1-5: tank invuln, very useful in Purgatory to dodge mechanics. Works on your party members too Overbrand/Moonslasher/Hesperius Lit: max them all Earth Drive: optional, but it's a free Ganbatein if your party needs it. Attack Stance 5: +15 P.ATK Shield Mastery 10: +30 Physical Resist Guardian Shield 5: why not. You will have to swap between attack and shield stance, but if there's downtime, it's worth it Holy Shield: optional, free shadow/undead resist. Ultimate Sacrifice 1-5: free revive on everyone except you 2.2 Gear- Spoiler This is what I was wearing for the tests Overlit uses very standard Physical Melee Gear Headgear Top: Old Protect Crown (w/ Unyielding) and Thanos Warrior Helmet - you will need two headgears. Protect Crown for overbrand mobbing, then swapping to Thanos to boss with Hesperius (Purple Ferus) Headgear Mid: VWE 10% ACD or Battle Processor w/ Melee (Purple Ferus) Headgear Lower: Blue Ninja mask Armor: Automatic Armor w/ 2x Attack Power + 1x Attacker Force OR ACD (Mistress of Shelter) Weapon: Thanos AD Spear (Contam Wandy/White Knight for general use) Shield: Mad Bunny LT, really the strongest option right now. If you need ACD, you can enchant 5 more (Khalitzburg for general use) Garment: STR manteau w/ 15% ACD (Happiness Giver) Shoes: Temporal STR w/ Bears. I've tried Auto Legs with Overpower, and it just isn't as good (Ominous Freezer) Accessories: Automatic Booster w/ All Force and KSSI w/ Strong. If you have a Meginjard, it's better than the Automatic Booster for overbrand (Revolver Buffalo / Chaotic Acolyte / Dark Faceworm) Shadows: Durables, Full Penetration, Maximum Mammoth (enchant ATK%), or run the Brand Shadow Set if you lack ACD Costumes: RG top (for FCT), RG low, melee mid, FCT garment 3. Finally A Good Idea Cannon Spear received the lion's share of damage RG's buffs. Cannon Spear is now officially the strongest damage build RG has available to it. It is far FAR cheaper than the Overlit alternative and has far greater potential. Suffice to say that there are a few key improvements. As you will see later, the build focuses on pumping as much STR as you can muster. The more the better, as the benefits don't seem to fall off in the slightest. 3.1 Build Theory Spoiler Previously, Cannon Spear suffered from a slew of problems: a) Minimum Cooldown of 0.5 seconds: no spam no happy. Like it or not, the faster you can spam a skill, the more damage you do. The EDDA combo is essential to hitting the lowest cooldown possible, which sucks since Protect Crown w/ Expect 10 would be perfect for the build. Cannon Spear's buffs feature a 0.3 CD reduction resulting in a new lowest CD of 0.2 seconds. We are still using the EDDA set (since with the hide bar tech, Cannon Spear becomes a bolter). If at some point in the future Gravity releases a new weapon that reduces Cannon Spear cooldown by 0.5 seconds ... if only. b)double CRIT requirement: previously, Inf Phree stole our lunch money, making us permanently down 1 weapon card slot (A WEAPON CARD OF ALL THINGS). Cannon Spear's buffs feature a REMOVAL OF THIS REQUIREMENT. Our damage potential is unlocked <- he's trash now c) more ability %: Cannon Spear went from a 250% + 5*STR skill to a 600% + 5*STR skill. This is equivalent to a free (600-250)/5 = 70 STR. Furthermore, Grand judgement's Cannon Spear buff is increased as well (from a 150% skill increase [or 30 STR] to a 400% increase [or 80 STR]. Current, I am able to obtain 440 STR, which turns Cannon Spear into a 2800% crit skill without grand judgement, and 3200% with! And this isn't even the highest possible! Truly things are looking up for this. We will rely on the following items for STR: more detail in the build section. d) Shitty AoE: it's decent now 3.2 Stats and Skills Spoiler Stat Guidelines: STR: 130 (Boosts Cannon Spear) priority 1 VIT: living longer helps Priority 2 DEX: hit instant cast (DEX * 2 + INT = 530) priority 1 INT: hit instant cast (DEX * 2 + INT = 530) priority 1 LUK: 125 if you run Galensis. If you are aiming for 100% magic dodge on prestige, the formula is INT + LUK = 380 PRIORITY 1 if running Galensis. DUMP otherwise AGI: you don't need any. You hit sufficient ATKSPD with consumables and in-built RG buffs Traits: POW and CRT Since we no longer wear Almighties, stats are tight The Important Skills: I'll just post my current build here. Just one point to note: it's important to pick up one level into Cross Rain . This and guardian shield are your only viable ways of generating AP, which you need for Grand Judgement , 3.3 The Build Spoiler This is what I was wearing for the tests 0 Meg Build: Spoiler Headgears and Weapon: the Edda combo w/ Randel Memory. Try to get as high a fortridge refine as possible (King Dramoh, Deep Sea King Dramoh, Rekenber Senior, Greater Research Assistant Bot) Armor and Shoes: STR Soutane w/ STR Bless and Temporal LUK boots w/ EA + Bear (armor card is whatever you have, Verporta in the shoes) Auto Legs: the FCT situation on this class is terrible! Absolutely terrible, so you can consider running an automatic leg instead (or as a swap) with Overpower and FCT! It's less damage, but more playable. Also, Auto Legs can now have TWO legendary enchants that proc simultaneously. For your second enchant, pick either Fatal Flash or the Long Range variant Shield and Garment: Temporal AGI w/ LR and Mad Bunny LT (Galensis for garment and shield is dependent on content) Accessories: Auto Booster w/ All Force + Expert Archer + Fatal, and KSSI w/ Strong + EA + STR (run two Broken Guard Betas) Shadows: RG weapon , Vanishing Cannon Set, and Full Penetration Accessories (enchant crit/LR, but LR is better) Costumes: use these, no argument Meg(s) Builds and Damage Difference Spoiler If you have meginjards, each one will increase your cannon spear damage by about 6-7 Million. Option 1: Replace your Insignia Combo and Temporal LUK boot with Meginjard and Automatic Leg (45m per shot) Option 2: Replace your Automatic Booster with Meginjard and keep the Temporal LUK Insignia combo. More damage, but FCT sucks (47m per shot). Option 3 "I HAVE TWO MEGS": Keep the Automatic Leg. Wear Deep Sea Merman and double Rekenber Senior Best of both worlds (50m per shot) Option 4 "THEORETICAL STRONGEST BUILD": I don't have this yet, but TECHNICALLY, mathematically, wearing these two offers the strongest Damage option. Even stronger than 2 Megs, but only when the +150 STR procs. This is because size % is woefully absent in our build and 150 STR is greater than the Meg and Automatic Leg proc combined! And on top of this, we get an accessory card slot, which allows us to wear the Cannon Spear Card Combo. Once I finally farm this out, I'll share the numbers. But I expect something in the ballpark of AT LEAST 55m per shot. In the future, we will get these babies, for that 225 STR proc, but Auto Legs are still good for now 4. MVP and Rare Item Review Spoiler RG Card (10/10): people meme on this thing a lot, but RG is the only class that scales off stats to this extent. Want instantcast, high vit, 120 luk, 130 str, and 100% prestige? You can do it all. Meginjard (10/10): best accessory for Cannon Spear RG, and that's about it Faceworm Queen (7/10): We aren't exactly crit starved, but you DO need 160 crit to surpass the purga/fort crit shield. So this helps. But it is by no means necessary. Nice to have. 5. Changelog Spoiler 20/03/2021: guide complete 10/04/2021: added meginjard 18/05/2021: added hybrid build 01/10/2021: updated build for latest patch Donafell Stuff I don't know how to delete: Spoiler Edited October 2, 2021 by Donafell
11099941 16 Posted March 11, 2021 Interesting. I will have to throw money at one of my RGs to get them OverLit going. That said, yeah. I feel you with the whole crit CS thing. Even disregarding the slow ass pace of the skill and its smaller aoe, the skill is atrocious to use, but rewarding if you can get it going to shoot down most anything. At least, Nif-wise, we can use Vanishing Point to make up for the snail's pace by shooting for the in-betweens, but for Hel? The horrid stat distribution just kills most of your chance at hitting anything.
Donafell 8 Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) On 4/3/2021 at 1:35 AM, Brozenwall said: This will arrive in the future but do you think that It will be better useIllusion Gelerdria [2] 15 Crit 50% Cannon Spear 15% Long Range 80 Atk (at +12) 30% Crit Damage 8% ASPD vs 20% LR + 35% CS + 20 Shadow + 20 Formless I think that +15 patent aquatic with double race/element enchants will still outstrip this illusion spear (since we lack race and element modifiers while having an excess of Skill and Crit). Though 15 crit allows you to run non-inf phree Cannon Spear without having to give up Cannon Shadow armor for Critical Hit Shadow Armor. You will have to run abrasives, but you will gain 30% size damage from Contaminated Wanderer. I think that in this latter case, the new spear might be competitive and at a much cheaper price tag. Also, it's useable not just in pit (though I don't know why you would want to do that. Cannon Spear can be used to farm ... but there are better options). Tl;dr, if you have a good aquatic, this illusion spear will not be an upgrade. It might break even if you don't run Inf Phree though! What we are really waiting for is the next cannon Spear weapon that will probably reduce the skill's cooldown. This is since currently, 0.5 cannon spear cooldown is attained through Trial Diadem + Fortridge. Any new Cannon Spear weapon will immediately disqualify us from the 0.5 second cooldown since you won't be using Fortridge. But when will it come? Who the hell knows. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! Edited April 4, 2021 by Donafell
Brozenwall 1 Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) Well the Temporal Circlet will also be and option since it can get Expect and the new Crit Enchant making a much better option but we need to wait till Lunar add those gears in. But thanks for the builds. Also I know that we are aiming for as much STR as possible but the Soutane can get Crit that can lower the requirements mine have +7 crit and that helps a lot. Edited April 4, 2021 by Brozenwall
Donafell 8 Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) Indeed. Temporal Circlets will be an option (especially if vanishing point gets buffed). Theoretically, the Lvl3 LUK Jewel should be able to make up for the 80% loss in Cannon Spear skill mod and the loss of 5 STR through the additional +21 crit, 63% crit damage, 6% atk. The damage of temporal circlets will be lower, but the added crit will make life much easier. Perhaps we can even completely abandon Inf Phree for contam wandy, which would make temporal circlets even more competitive. But... there's also the problem with enchanting. If Lunar doesn't provide a QoL for temporal circlets, enchanting will be hell. Edited April 5, 2021 by Donafell
