Happy New Year 2024. If you are new to SMRO, many players ask which server you should join 1st. but the answer is "depend". You wanted to really know what is Niflheim or Helheim by asking but after you got the answer "depend" you became more confused. There is only one suggestion and this is only from my perspective. It's OK if you disagree with it, at least you have another opinion. 1. RO basically MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) which means more players it has then it is better. Helheim due to "authentic" kRO system progression, many players chose it. Why the "authentic" kRO system gets more attention than the combination of jRO/kRO/iRO? well, I can't answer it straightly but if you play on a server which low custom, many players outside the SMRO will acknowledge your account. It means you invest time playing in Helheim not bad as you playing in Niflheim. 2. The farmer. I can't answer it straightly again. But come look at the supply chain perspective, do you want mostly solo to get your equipment? Of course, we need to buy something from other players but if the server lacks farmers then the demand to buy will be higher due to the lack of sellers. Let's check about the market in Niflheim and Helheim: The proportion of sellers and buyers in Helheim is more balanced than in Niflheim. A rare item in Niflheim is more expensive than Helheim. Maybe this conclusion can change over time but you can check the discord marketplace between these two. The market in Niflheim more volatile and you will end up becoming their slave. 3. If you want the easiness of playing the game then Niflheim is the answer. With the combination of jRO/kRO/iRO and critical of all skill features, you can progress your character faster and maybe cheaper. FYI, there are players who find Zeny in Niflheim and change it to Moon Coins then they deposit the Moon Coins into the bank and take them in Helheim. Last update: Donating is an alternative to boosting your progression. 4. Sometimes the server has problems or bugs. It needs more data, but if it has the same problem or bug, I think Helheim has priority to fix over Niflheim. But, in my opinion, the Niflheim has a little problem than Helheim. But (again), in Niflheim there is a bug exploiter (maybe we called "feature"). Last time, GM posted that since Helheim was established the cost of maintenance greatly increased. 5. Don't worry about QoL Improvement and events. They are about the same. But, Niflheim has a complicated guide for beginners because majorly the guidance in Helheim. You need to find the answer yourself. Helheim uses mainstream gameplay but Niflheim has a custom feature so it will lead to a new meta (All can "Crit") - personally, I think it's a dumb feature since you already have strong equipment. In Helheim, it's simple, just maximize potential crit skill. 6. Helheim is laggier than Niflheim because more players are not just unlike Niflheim which has more vendors with unsophisticated items and city staycations. At least Niflheim is barely down. 7. Helheim has more GM than Niflheim but Niflheim has the most cheerful GM in SMRO "Nuit". It seems the GM is not frequently active anymore. IDK what happened... So no active event from GM anymore. Moreover the update is slower than before 8. Don't bother with someone who said this server is more newbie welcome than others. No, that's wrong. They are the same too (sometimes you meet a kind person and sometimes you meet a toxic player). In Helheim you will meet a lot of players so it doesn't matter. Don't screw up with the Niflheim player because that server lacks a player and it will end up difficult for you. 9. If you try asking in Discord which server is the best, the result is Helheim. (Due to my 3+ years experience playing this SMRO) Most of the players in Niflheim are pretty bored with their condition (so many Arch Mages now) and half of them have 2 accounts both in Helheim and Niflheim. I think Niflheim needs a farmer, seller, & guide. 10. Helheim players have a richer culture than Niflheim players. There are events that are organized by the player itself. I hope this suggestion will help you to choose which one is better for you. or maybe you like to play on both.
